Walenta Grinding Inc. – Established 1949

Walenta Grinding is devoted to precision centerless grinding services and always have been since our founding in 1949.

We’re a second-generation firm from the “machine shop of America,” Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We serve clients from Southeastern Wisconsin, the midwest and the United States.

We’ve enjoyed a two-generation relationship (three generations on the clients’ side) with many customers. We welcome new business opportunities and do our best to make the relationship long-lived and mutually rewarding.

We do polishing and straightening as a natural compliment to our grinding services. We know what we’re good at and we devote ourselves to continuously being the best at our core services. We strive to continue our centerless grinding leadership, never resting on the tried-and-true, proven methods we use. Rather, we’re always seeking the incremental improvements that maintain our centerless grinding, polishing and straightening services leadership.

Company History

Simon (Cy) and Esther Walenta founded Walenta Grinding Company in 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Cy Walenta purchased two acres on 126th Street in Brookfield, Wisconsin, in 1957. Walenta Grinding moved into a newly constructed building that same year. Walenta Grinding remains in the same location with several additions to the shop and office areas.

In 1965 Cy Walenta died suddenly. His wife, Esther Walenta, took over management of the business. Daughter, Valerie Menges, joined Walenta Grinding on a full-time basis the following year. Son, Les Walenta, joined Walenta Grinding on a full-time basis two years later.

Esther Walenta retired from the firm in December of 1977. Les and Valerie assumed total ownership at the retirement of Esther Walenta. Esther passed away in 1995.

We celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2009 as our future continues to look bright.

We are pleased that some customers who used Walenta Grinding services in the beginning continue to be customers today. That is a testament to our skilled and dedicated employees through the years.
